I prayed to be saved?

recently i was in a car wreck, nothing major, but it could have been. but after the car wreck i learned that little things stopped the car from rolling.some may call it luck but i think it was God watching over me. i got to thinking about it and sat down and prayed for the lord to be my savior and to be saved. now i have prayed before to be saved and my step dad said i wasnt saved when i thought i was but i believed him. this time i did it again. and im not sure how you are supposed to feel after being saved? whats your alls thoughts
